The Fairy Shoemaker
Faerysteps started a blog way back when the internet was practically pedal powered (that was in 2008). These days I tend to use Instagram as a daily record but sometimes you just can't beat a good old fashioned diary entry...
Home is where the heart is... Part 3
by Ren CumingTwo rooms into one, with a small bedroom there at the end, turned into a Pantry with a new doorway to access it from the kitchen.
Home is where the heart is... Part 2
by Ren CumingOnce the Pantry was useable it was time to turn the old dining room into our new sitting room.

And so it began... 4th November and right up to Christmas Eve (and still there is a huge 'to do' list).
Can you believe its nearly Christmas?

I think my highlight was recreating our wedding from 30 years ago. Same chap, same dress, same church, same gate.
Its Sandal time... and a home sewing update.

Have to say I was rather pleased with this new style. Let me introduce Maisie to you all...
Tea Bar is open...
by FaerystepsWell my dears, what a strange few months this has been for everyone. Ive been self isolating since 1994 when my first baby arrived so its not been very different for me... up here. But, I do know its had a profound effect on many, which is a very sad business. Bearing in mind that much like Brexit, we have probably, mostly, all started to suffer with Brain Numbness when we here any news on the...
Whisky Wagon introduction...
by FaerystepsWelcome to our latest restoration project :) Its super exciting this one because its going to hopefully enable the Big Adventure we have planned in May. A road trip from home to the Scottish highlands and up along the west coast. This is to celebrate and mark our combined 50th birthdays (10 months apart). Ive only ever got so far as the Lake District so its practically a Moon trip for me. Its...
Hair growing update / utter vanity...
by FaerystepsSo here I am... bold as brass! Why is my hair never brushed when I take a picture? I was asked by the lovely Jess to let you know how long its grown since the last update, so here I am. Silver streak is spreading, but because our water is very coppery it is in fact, going green. Thats fine, I quite like green, it makes me feel slightly mermaid-ish. The fact that I don't swim can be Glossed...
Spindle...
by FaerystepsAlways exciting working on something new, even if it's not strictly new ;)
I haven't made this boot in over 10 years. Originally called 'Ophelia' she was popular at the time but I moved onto other styles and she fell by the wayside. Whilst sorting through old image files I rediscovered her again and decided to revamp the pattern..

Its been a while since Ive written a post so apologies for the long time away.
Lets drop right back in with a round up some recent makes... Lots of Clara's on the order books recently so had to share the 'rear' view of these glorious peacock blue ones. Gosh I love blue so much. Its the colour of sky and water, life essentials, maybe that's why Im drawn to it so much as I get older?
And...
Season on the change...
by Faerysteps
There is a definite nip in the air. I felt it on Wednesday and its got progressively cooler since. Plus the ever rampant Virginia creeper is blushing so that's a sure sign if ever there was one that the season is on the move. Summer has dusted off her golden coat and will soon be leaving with the Swallows.
Talking of dust, gosh did I have a good clean up in my workshop. Nothing like a...
Childhood Summer revisited...

Straight back to age 6 when the great drought of 1976 happened...
The grass is tinder dry and we are rather feared of fire. Fires in various parts of the country already :( so we are being extra vigilant.
Late evening trip down to the river to swim. Well... they did, I didnt... Im a terrible wuss about water ;)
