The Fairy Shoemaker

Faerysteps started a blog way back when the internet was practically pedal powered (that was in 2008). These days I tend to use Instagram as a daily record but sometimes you just can't beat a good old fashioned diary entry...

On being squat and the Queen does a spot of flossing...

My goodness, who knew leaving the house for 3 hours could be such an adventure. An adventure that included; indecision, fear, shock, joy, disbelief, disgust, then more shock... and they wonder why I like staying home ;)

We rarely go out for meals. Years of scrimping to buy home etc have instilled almost miser like tendencies in me. Except for giving to charity or family, I like doing that :)...

Running, ink and tinkers...

November has most certainly been a month of boots.

Lots to report for November, get comfy. Most notably, new tall boots have just started being added to the shop. Only a couple of Moonshine boots, but, happy to say that we have made lots of Tinker boots in various sizes. I'm fast reaching 'boot out' so its a small batch by manufacturing standards, but a marathon when its a cottage...

Camping in November...

Me in reflective mood earlier today. Post boot pattern making, pre boot marking. Hair washed earlier, but unbrushed. How slovenly of me, but, the leather never notices the state of my hair, so preening was going to wait till later. My head has been bursting with boots so I've been keen to crack on.

PYRAMUS from earlier in the week.

Lovely LUNA in waxy coffee leather.

Latest boots and first pies...

Faerysteps Cobweb fairy boots. My last custom Cobwebs for a while, made for a really lovely customer :)

Mustardseed fairy boots.

Mustardseed fairy boots with starlight applique work. Very much Harry Potter boots these. Intense violet and seaside contrast.

And Wisp in darkest violet, again with that seaside contrast on the back heel covers. So much violetness lately. That isnt...

A snippet of my day...

This was strange to film for me, because I do it so often I really don't think what Im doing anymore. Like many makers, I go on autopilot. I think thats why doing any manual job is quite therapeutic. You can be lost in the task. It was interesting for me to see how much I fuss over the leather before marking! Hides are covered in flaws, simply because its a natural product. They can be front...

Green harvest...

I so enjoyed taking pictures of this batch. It was all so green! But, at the same time, it was like saying goodbye to Summer. Moving rapidly into a season of browns and golds and reds. Followed by the deepest greens of fir.

Queenie fairy shoes in zest.

Mustardseed fairy boots in zest and rhubarb. Love them every time I make a pair.

What a week half term was...

Esther vintage fairy shoes in dove grey.

I've had such a busy week, but then half term always is for parents is'nt it. I am very aware though that these times will pass, and that for me in fact, this is most probably my last half term with my youngest. This time next year she will already have turned 18, and so the luxury of outings mid week etc will be gone forever, never to return. So I...

Year is turning at last...

Had a great deal of fun with the new boot style WILLO. Timeless in a good dark oak brown as shown here.

Log heap to the rescue for a backdrop :)

I knew you'd want another picture of these beautiful Mustardseed fairy boots.

Oodles of orders for the new violet leather. HOLLY fairy shoes shown here.

And more WILLO boots in that glorious violet leather, with a lovely Mallard...

Boots galore

You cant beat a bit of silver birch for a good photograph. I had so much fun in the Autumn sunshine taking pictures. Its that time of year again, where everything is glowing.

We are currently finishing orders ready to start on new stock from 1st November onwards. Expect a variety of styles, sizes and colours. Do follow on instagram or facebook for regular updates of whats on the...

Wispy boots

Wisp boots were made available to order in your own colour choices during May, and it was so lovely to make them for you :)
Lots of wonderful combinations with just a few shown above. I do like this boot. I keep meaning to make myself a pair and never quite get round to it. Must rectify that soon :)
Made to order re-opens 1st July so if you fancy a pair full details are shown on the...

Name change

Very, very exciting day today!
Fairysteps has had a name change across the web. Its just one letter, but, its a change nonetheless. The new place to find me is: faerysteps.com
Why did I do this dastardly daring deed? Well… lots of reasons really, but heres a few good ones…
1. When I took the fairysteps domain in 2005, sadly the .com domain had been taken by a holding company who demanded...
